Dropshot Rig

The Dropshot Rig consists of a hook (typically a dropshot or EWG) tied to your line along with a tag end (from 6" up to 4+' long) attached to a dropshot weight. The Dropshot rig is unique in that the bait comes before your weight on the line. This allows the weight to be in contact with the bottom and the bait to be elevated, fluttering in place with gentle shakes of the rod tip. The dropshot rig is very versatile, allowing you to fish deep water structure like points, humps, and ledges, or shorten the weight leader to 6-12" and cast at shallow cover such as dock pilings, laydown trees, etc.
